It is September 2024, and I am currently undertaking long rides on my Honda as part of my effort to acclimate myself to extended journeys and the experience of riding a larger motorbike, so I can smash it in South America in January 2025.
Falling off the motorbike
Overall, the ride is smooth and very comfortable. However, I have encountered some challenges along the way, particularly when it comes to stopping on steep slopes. This aspect of riding has proven to be more complex than I initially anticipated, It took me a considerable amount of time to mater the intricate balance of the brake-accelerator combination. Additionally, when I find myself stopping on curves or particularly steep slopes, I sometimes struggle with maintaining my balance, resulting in the motorcycle tipping over.
So far, I've been fortunate to have fellow motorcyclist helping me lifting the motorbike, but I recognise that this might not always be the case. To address this issue I reached out my good friend B.C, who is an experienced rider, to show me the key techniques for lifting the bike on my own, and like everything, practice and practice. This has been an important part of my learning process and has helped build my riding confidence.

Steps to lift the motorbike
Preparing the Lift
Turn off the motorcycle to prevent the risk of oil leakage.
Position the handlebars inward for easier grip during lifting.
Engage the first gear to prevent uncontrolled rolling once the motorcycle is lifted.
If the motorcycle has fallen on the right, lower the stand; if it has fallen on the left, lift it carefully and deploy the stand when possible.
Position Yourself Correctly
Stand close to the motorcycle with feet shoulder-width apart.
Bend your knees while keeping your back straight.
Squat down to secure a good grip on the motorcycle.
Lift with Your Legs, Not Your Back
Keep the motorcycle close to your body.
Utilize the strength of your legs by straightening your knees to lift.
